It is possible to find a suitable tank mate for a goldfish, but you can’t just add any species!
There are some very important things to keep in mind.
First, any fish added to the tank has to thrive in the same environment as goldfish, especially in water temperatures from 65 or F to 75 or F.
As most importantly, fish have to get along. What exactly does that mean?

1. Other goldfish
Adding another goldfish of the same size and variety is one of the easiest ways to add another fish to your goldfish tank.
Just remember that the goldfish is omnivorous and can be predatory. It is important that the tank mates are evenly paired.
Be very careful with the size. The big goldfish will eat the minors so they must be the same size.
In addition, extravagant goldfish tend to move slower than the commons and probably won’t be able to compete for food.
2. White Cloud Mountain minnows

They spend most of the day eating algae from rock and grass, which also helps keep your tank clean.
Stay away from common Plecos, as there are reports that you have a habit of sucking the golden fish slime coat.
5. Time or Loaches Dojo
Time Loaches, or Dojo Loaches, are another great option because they are cold-water fish that thrive in the same kind of environment.
These loaches should be kept in groups of 3 or more and enjoy the burrow, so make sure they are supplied with fine gravel or sand casting.
Wolves also require a lot of their own space, so you’ll need a very large tank to shelter them with goldfish.
